Happy New Year. I hope all the best for you in 2017!
I worked with this guy named Aran last year. He was into movies. I believe that he studied film in collage. He contacted me one day and told me that he and a friend of his have made this movie and wanted to use two songs in it.
I didn’t know what to think about this. I was “ify”. But in the end I thought that it would be pretty cool. His filmmaking partner Brian (who was also the Director of the film) contacted me and we talked for a while. Both he and Aran loved my CD and the songs they chose for it. How could I not want to be part of this.
I have been into film all of my life. Anyone who is involved in it in any way has my admiration and envy. It is not an easy passion/hobby to have. You need people to collaborate with, money to get it done, use expensive equipment, etc. There is pre and post production and stuff I have no idea about.
A few months back, Brian sent me a watermarked” version of the film to view. I am not kidding when I tell you how great I thought it was. The film has a cast of two and both were really good actors….REALLY GOOD! They made a cute 10 minute film.
Tonight was the world premiere for cast, crew, and me! Yes, I was invited because two of my songs (Annoying Qualities and Chance to Be) were the soundtrack of this film. Well, not the whole song, but portions of both songs.
I was allowed to bring one guest, so I asked my friend and the Producer of my album, Joe Auger to go.
Brian and Aran introduced the film and then showed it. My second viewing of it showed how truly great this film is. People laughed. I loved it. Everyone did.
Aran and Brian thanked me, which I thought was very nice and I got a nice round of applause. The event didn’t last long, but it was a good time.
I must say that I wouldn’t mind working on a film sometime. Due to my inexperience, I wouldn’t make much of a crew member, but the way I would like to be involved is to be involved with the soundtrack. In other words, I would like to be write the music for a film. I believe that there are some filmmakers who would give me a chance.
